Speaker : Mr Jonathan Love, School of Psychology, The University of Newcastle.
Date : 30th of October 2018, 12:00PM until 1:00PM
Location : Australian Hearing Hub, 3.610, Macquarie University.

The jamovi project aims to modernise statistical software used in the social sciences (replace SPSS), empower the scientific community to publish its own accessible, user friendly statistical methods, foster a community sharing accessible educational resources, bridge the "graphical statistics community" with the command line statistics community (i.e. R users), and make computational reproducibility the norm. at the heart of the project is the jamovi spreadsheet, a free, graphical, user-friendly, statistical spreadsheet for the masses. This talk introduces the jamovi spreadsheet, provides an overview of its data-editing and analysis capabilities, and explores the growing body of resources produced by the broader jamovi community, and why, in our view, jamovi represents one of the best statistical platforms for the teaching (and practice) of statistics. We encourage people to try out jamovi before the talk -- jamovi is available from
