National Science Week is here!

Come and play with the CCD at the Sydney Science Festival!

MAASive Lates

10 August, Powerhouse Museum, 7:00 – 10:00pm

There's so much to explore at MAASive Lates during the opening night of the Sydney Science Fest! Tickets are still available to join in the fun, including the opportunity to Speed Date a range of scientists. You could even find yourself across from someone from our very own Child Language Lab.

Brilliant Brains: How Kids Learn Language

13 August, Powerhouse Museum, 2:30 – 4:00pm

Learn how language scientists from our Child Language Lab solve the puzzles of language learning. Take part in interactive demonstrations and games and hear a short talk about recent research highlights regarding how children acquire sounds, words, and grammar in their first or second language.

(This event is sold out, sorry!)

Back to the Future: The Time-traveling Brain

14 August, Sydney Mechanics School of the Arts, 12:30 – 1:30pm AND 20 August, Innovation Games, Sydney Olympic Park

At The Innovation Games, come and hear Associate Professor Muireann Irish of the Memory Program present an overview of her work exploring memory and imagination, highlighting how damage to the brain impacts these sophisticated cognitive processes and the devastating effects of losing such uniquely human functions.

A Night of Illusions

18 August, 107 Projects, 7:00 – 10:00pm

You are invited to step into a realm that will challenge your assumptions and mess with your perceived reality.  After this evening of talks and interactive demonstrations, you will never see the world the same again.

All of these events are free but require advance booking through the event links.
