Director - Professor Stephen Crain
My research investigates how principles of logic are encoded in human languages. With students and colleagues, this topic is being approached from several angles: analyses of typologically distinct human languages, behavioural studies of children and adults, and brain imaging studies of children and adults. The goal is a formal model of the human logic faculty.
Deputy Director - Professor Anne Castles
My research investigates the cognitive processes involved in reading and learning to read and the various ways in which these processes can be impaired in dyslexia. With collaborators at Macquarie University, I am also carrying out research on the treatment of dyslexia. I am further interested in reading and language processing within other developmental disorders such as autism and Specific Language Impairment.
