Profile

My research focuses on determining the causes and consequences of cognitive and emotion processing disturbances in severe psychotic conditions. This includes investigations of (1) the genetic basis of cognitive and emotional endophenotypes for psychotic and mood disorders, (2) the neural basis and functional consequences of emotion regulation disturbances in mood, psychotic, and associated personality traits and disorders, and (3) the development of emotion regulation capacities in childhood and adolescence, with relevance to the development of mood and psychotic disorders. These projects are conducted in collaboration with UNSW staff at Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA), the Black Dog Institute, the School of Psychology, and local area Mental Health Services. External collaborators include researchers at the University of Leiden (The Netherlands), as well as the University of Melbourne (Melbourne Neuropsychiatry Centre and Orygen Youth Health).
